21 REQUIREMENTS
effective April 1, 2010

Here are the full Rank Requirements.

Any of the requirements can be done on a camping trip, but there are 21 things that can only be done on a camping trip,
and 5 of those only in water. (SC7b, SC7c, FC9b, FC9c, FC9d)

Here is a list of 33 requirements that can be done on a single camping trip.

Before going,
1. Plan a breakfast or lunch for yourself and a meal for your patrol. -( T3, SC3g )-
2. Help plan a whole campout's menu that requires cooking for one breakfast, lunch, and dinner. -(F4a)-
3. Make a shopping list with cost and amount, and buy them. -(F4b)-
4. List pans, and utensils, needed to cook and serve these meals. -(F4c)-
5. Explain safe handling and storage of all foods.
Tell how to properly dispose of camp garbage, cans, plastic containers, and other rubbish. -(F4d)-
6. Present yourself to your leader, properly dressed, and properly packed. -( T1, )- -(Camping MB 5e)-
7. Prepare a personal first aid kit to take with you on a hike -( SC7b )-

While there,
1. Choose the site. Pitch a tent, Sleep in it. -( T2, SC3b )- -(Camping MB 6a,6c)-
2. Discuss the principles of “Leave No Trace” -( SC2 )- -(Camping MB 2)-
3. Assist in preparing a meal.
Tell why it's important to eat together and share the preparation and cleanup with your patrol. -( T3, )-
4. Learn Knife and Axe usage and safety. -( SC3c )-
5. Build a cooking fire. Demonstrate how to light a stove.
Explain which is best for what situation.-( SC3d, SC3e, SC3f )- -(Camping MB 8b)-
6. Plan and cook a breakfast or lunch for yourself with four food groups. -( SC3g )-
7. Be the cook. Supervise building a cooking fire.
Prepare the breakfast, lunch, and dinner planned in requirement F4a. -(Camping MB 8d)-
Lead your patrol in saying grace at the meals and supervise cleanup. -(F4e)-
8. Knots
Whip and Fuse the end of a rope -(T4a )-
2-Half Hitches and a Taut Line Hitch -(T4b )-
Bowline -(FC8a )-
Timber hitch and Clove hitch -(FC7b )-
Lashings (Square, Sheer Diagonal) -(FC7b )-
9. Discuss when you should and should not use lashings. -(FC7a )-
10. Make a camp gadget with lashings. -(FC7c )-
11. Orient a map and tell map symbols. -(SC1a )-
12. Take a five mile hike. -(SC1b )-
13. Explain the rules of safe hiking. -(T5 )-
14. Do a one mile orienteering course. -(F2 )-
15. Show how to find direction day or night without a compass. -(F1 )-
16. Identify or show evidence of ten plants. -(F6 )-
17. Identify or show evidence of ten wild animals. -(SC6 )-

If there is a lake at your camping trip, you can do these as well.
1. Tell what precautions must be taken for a safe swim. -(SC8a )-
2. Tell what precautions must be taken for a safe trip afloat. -(FC9a )-
3. In deep water, swim 25 feet, sharp turn, and return 25 feet. -(SC8b )-
4. Complete the BSA Swim Test. -(FC9b )-
5. Complete the BSA Swim Test plus 50 more yards nonstop -(Swmng MB)-
6. Demonstrate 3 rescue methods, explain. -(SC8c )-
7. Demonstrate line rescue with both helper and victim. -(FC9c )-
8. Jump in clothed, remove shoes, inflate shirt, inflate pants, swim 50 feet with inflated pants. -(Swmng MB )-
9. Discuss first aid for swimming injuries. -(Swmng MB )-

All these are now completed in a single weekend!
